How To Automate Success
Two years ago I started....
Two years ago, I decided to start playing life like a video game.
I wanted to make money, learn valuable skills, and start winning.
I was passionate and ready to grind but...
I had no idea where to start.
Luckily, I found two books that changed everything for me:
Atomic Habits by James Clear
The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg
Using what I learned from these books, I developed a system to "automate" my success.
It took some time and many mistakes, but in the past 2 years I used this system to:
Build my first successful business.
Quit my 9-5 job.
Transform my mental health.
Improve my appearance.
Enhance my relationships.
And reach insane levels of productivity.
And I want to share this system with you so that you can begin leveling up with me.…
Your brain is a computer.
It can store information, process data, and run programs.
Every time you brush your teeth...
Your brain is running a program.
Don't believe me?
Try brushing with your opposite hand...
It will feel awkward and require conscious effort.
Why?
Because your brain doesn't have a program for that hand.
Our brains group actions together to make it easier to perform those actions.
Think about the first time you backed a car out of the driveway.
There were so many conscious steps...
Check the mirror
Foot on the brake
Start the car
Put in reverse
Gently release the brake while using the wheel to guide the car
But once you've done it many times, it becomes effortless.
You don't think about each little action, you simply...
Back the car out.
That's the power of your brain.
That's the power of habits.
The average person spends 45% of their day performing habits.
When I first heard that statistic, I was a bit discouraged.
Do I really spend half my day performing mindless habits?
But then I thought about it some more...
What if I could program habits into my day that would guarantee my success over time?
If I could do that, I could pretty much "automate" my success...
It’s been almost 3 years since I began figuring out this process and I want to share with you what I have learned so far…
How To Automate Success
1) Gain clarity.
To find which habits to program, you must set clear goals.
A "bad" habit for someone else, might be a "good" habit for you.
It depends on your goals.
Make a $1,000,000?
Quit your job?
Lose 25lbs?
Become an incredible father?
The more clarity you have, the easier it will be to find the right habits.
Here is a quick method to gain clarity on your desires:
Imagine you are attending your own funeral...
How do you want people to remember you?
What do you want your friends to say about you?
What about your kids?
Your answers to these questions will help you find meaningful goals for your life.
But if you're still having trouble, don't be afraid to keep it shallow.
Become more attractive or make $1,000,000 are great goals to start with.
Once you have a clear goal, you need to find a habit that helps you achieve that goal.
2) Pick effective habits.
You can turn any action into a habit, but not every habit is going to help you reach your goals.
You want your day filled with the most effective habits.
So once you have a goal, ask yourself...
What could I do every day for 10 years, that would make it almost impossible for me NOT to reach my goal?
Let me give you a personal example.
When I die, I want to be remembered as:
Someone who influenced thousands of people to change their lives for the better.
With that in mind, my new goal became:
Influence thousands of people.
So what can I do everyday, for 10 years, that would make it almost impossible for me not to reach that goal?
You might have guessed it already. Writing.
I plan to write every day for the rest of my life.
It's what I'm doing right now.
I’m writing about how I solved the problems in my life.
This habit will make it impossible for me NOT to influence people over the course of 10 years.
So take some time and figure out an effective habit for your goal.
Once you've found the right habit, you need to program that habit into your day.
3) Program habits.
We want the right actions to become effortless.
Imagine waking up and performing the most beneficial task to reach your goal…
Without needing motivation
Without procrastinating
Without using willpower
By programming a habit into your schedule… you bypass procrastination.
You can perform the right actions... without needing willpower.
But for that to happen, these actions must become habits.
That's great KJ, but how do I do that?
Let me show you exactly what I do.
In Atomic Habits by James Clear, he gives us the 4 laws of habit formation:
Make it obvious
Make it attractive
Make it easy
Make it satisfying
I used these laws to create my own Habit Programmer.
This tool transformed my life and helped me automate my success.
You can access it here, for completely free.
If you don't want to use my tool, here is what you can do:
Choose 1 or 2 habits to program each month.
Write on a piece of paper:
The habit
The benefits of the habit
When you will perform the habit
The reward you will give yourself for performing the habit each day
Create a 30 day checklist and check a box each day you perform the habit.
Once you hit 30 days, choose a new habit and repeat!
But KJ, why only 1 habit a month?
Couldn't I level up much faster if I did more?
No, because this process only works if these actions become REAL habits in your day.
For 30 days, it will take conscious effort and willpower to perform the action. (Like when you backed a car out for the first time.)
But once an action becomes a habit, it will take very little willpower.
The correct actions will start to become effortless.
And that, my friend, is when the magic happens.
As you stack habits month after month, your success will begin to snowball.
You will start to see the magic of compounding transform every area of your life.
But remember, it takes dedication and commitment to start each habit.
There are no short-cuts.
In the words of Dan Koe:
The quickest fix is the longest path.
So to recap...
To automate your success:
1) Clarify your goals
2) Choose effective habits
3) Program those habits into your day
